Leaf Armchair: A Blend of Nature and Innovation

Edoardo Accordi's Award-Winning Design Inspired by Nature's Sinuous Shapes

Accordi's design is inspired by the sinuous shapes of nature, particularly the leaf. The armchair's unique and comfortable style, coupled with the versatility of its construction materials, makes it a standout design. The armchair is not only a piece of furniture but also a statement piece that adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any environment.

The Leaf Armchair's unique properties lie in its color and construction materials. The cushion is green, a color that is currently in vogue and expected to remain popular in the coming years. The main material used in the armchair's construction is folded plywood, a flexible material that allows the armchair to adapt comfortably to any person. The back of the armchair features a useful space for placing books or magazines, adding a practical element to its design.

The armchair is produced using steam-bent plywood for the main body and milled wood for the backrest screws. The cushion, made of high-quality cotton, is removable and attached to the seat by velcro strips. The armchair's dimensions are w 765 mm x d 954 mm x h 1000 mm sit. x 460 mm, with a package dimension of 1100 mm x 800 mm x 1100 mm.

Accordi's design fits well in various environments, from the most luxurious and classic to simpler, youthful, or even playful settings. The armchair's design, which includes holes and flexible wood, allows it to adapt comfortably to the user's weight. The backrest features a comfortable space for resting magazines or books, ensuring they are always within reach.

The Leaf Armchair project began in December 2021 in Padova and was completed in February 2022. Accordi conducted extensive market and style research, looking at various furniture manufacturers, designers, and existing products. The aim was to create a product that was not only useful and beautiful but also innovative and potentially iconic.

One of the main challenges in the design process was creating a product that was useful, aesthetically pleasing, and cost-effective to produce using recyclable or eco-friendly materials. Accordi's design, which is inspired by the sinuous and light lines of a leaf, successfully meets these criteria. The armchair's design allows it to flex slightly according to the weight of the person sitting on it, adding to its comfort and appeal.

The Leaf Armchair has been awarded the Silver A' Furniture Design Award in 2022, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation. The award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Accordi's design, with its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, certainly fits this description.
